Cyborg Jungle

I love exploring the boundaries of analog video: breaking it, and by breaking it, creating a beautiful, unique, weird and crunchy analog glitch aesthetic that reminds me of a fictional cyberpunk future.

My work is an exploration of humanity at the point where it becomes signal. When a face is turned into voltage, pushed through mixers and effect modules and redrawn line by line on a cathode-ray tube, is it still a face? Can we still recognise a person when they are made of nothing but electricity?

Every image crosses a border: from the physical world into the electronic one, and back out onto the glass. I am interested in what happens at that crossing. Perhaps the signal extends our reality into a new medium. Perhaps it only mimics it, holding up a convincing copy of a world it will never touch. I keep filming the screen to find out.

Every piece starts as video and stays analog all the way: a chain of video mixers and effect modules, a CRT monitor, and a phone held up to the glass. The stills on this site are frames from that footage.
